Car crashes and injuries in Glendale

Glendale sits in the West Valley, northwest of Phoenix, inside Maricopa County. Maricopa County had 72.74% of all Arizona crashes in 2024 and 50.13% of the state's fatal crashes (ADOT, 2024 Arizona Motor Vehicle Crash Facts, p. 13). Statewide that year, there were 121,107 crashes. 1,228 people were killed and 54,426 were injured (ADOT 2024 Crash Facts, Table 1-1, p. 2).

The West Valley's freeways get the attention. Loop 101 (Agua Fria) and Loop 303 carry heavy traffic, and I-17 runs to the east. But most of our crash cases happen on city streets and at intersections, not on freeways. Glendale has plenty of both. Grand Avenue (US 60) runs diagonally across the street grid. Glendale Avenue, Northern Avenue, Bell Road, 59th Avenue, 67th Avenue, and 83rd Avenue carry commuters and local traffic all day. The Arrowhead area and historic downtown Glendale stay busy. Rear-end collisions

Stop-and-go traffic on Bell Road, backups at Loop 101 ramps, and sudden stops near Westgate on event days all set up rear-end crashes. Rear-end was the most common type of multi-vehicle crash in Arizona in 2024: 38,654 crashes, or 37.51%. That included 12,221 injury crashes (ADOT 2024 Crash Facts, Table 3-1, p. 18). Neck, back, and head injuries from a rear-end hit don't always show up right away, so get checked by a doctor even if you feel fine. Expect the insurer to downplay your injuries or claim you stopped short. Under Arizona's pure comparative fault law, if you share some of the blame, your damages are reduced by your share of fault, generally not wiped out (A.R.S. § 12-2505). Uber and Lyft accidents on event nights

When an event lets out at State Farm Stadium or the Westgate Entertainment District, rideshare cars pour in. Drivers look for riders, stop suddenly for pickups, and pull back into traffic. Where your Glendale case is handled

The agency that writes the crash report depends on court rules and the facts, such as where the crash happened and where the parties live. Glendale Police usually investigate crashes on Glendale city streets. Arizona DPS usually handles state highways and freeways, such as Loop 101, Loop 303, and I-17. At the scene, get the report number from the officer. Glendale Police take crash report requests through an online records request form on the city's website, and copies are also sold online through BuyCrash. Deadlines matter. In Arizona, most injury lawsuits must generally be filed within 2 years (A.R.S. § 12-542). Claims against the government move faster.
