Truck accidents

Semi trucks share I-10 with Ahwatukee commuters, and delivery trucks run through neighborhood streets. When a truck hits a car, the injuries are often severe. The Insurance Research Council estimated that 10.6% of Arizona drivers were uninsured in 2023. Arizona's minimum auto liability limits are $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident for bodily injury, and $15,000 for property damage (A.R.S. § 28-4009). A serious injury can go far past those limits. Insurers must offer uninsured (UM) and underinsured (UIM) motorist coverage in writing, though drivers can decline it (A.R.S. § 20-259.01). Dog bites and falls

How long do you have to file a claim in Arizona?

In Arizona, most injury lawsuits generally must be filed within 2 years (A.R.S. § 12-542).

Claims against a government have much shorter deadlines. Ahwatukee is part of Phoenix. That means a crash with a City of Phoenix vehicle, or with a government employee driving on the job, is a claim against a public entity. For those claims, a notice of claim is generally required within 180 days (A.R.S. § 12-821.01). The lawsuit against the public entity or employee generally must be filed within 1 year (A.R.S. § 12-821). These deadlines move fast, so call us early.
